Who can tell me what software to download from internet to send and receive fax over internet ? and how to use it ?

I want to store a MS ACCESS database online for free. I want to store files as well.

Thanks.

External storage offers a lot of benefits for companies and individuals. It means they can back up data and prevent catastrophically losing important or personal files; it means they can transport their data to other locations or systems and use them on the go; it means they can easily transfer files between gadgets and devices; it means they can keep data safe by encrypting it and hiding the storage device; it means they can share them with others or borrow files from other places; and it means they can save space on their computers’ hard drives. Everyone should have at least one form of external storage and would probably benefit from having several. Bellow are a list of the various options and their strengths and weaknesses.

Memory Cards – Sd memory cards (a popular make being SanDisk who make the SanDisk Ultra and SanDisk Extreme line) have the great advantages of being highly portable and compatible with a very large range of devices. Not only will memory cards work with most computers (those that don’t have in built memory card readers can use external memory card readers via the USB ports), but also with PDAs, phones, MP3 players and cameras – enabling users to quickly transfer files to their PC without needing wires. At the same time memory cards are cheap and reliable and will fit into any wallet or shirt pocket. SanDisk SD offer a range of memory cards, including the SanDisk Extreme range that allows up to 32GB of storage.

Online Storage – Online storage requires the user to set up their own domain name and from here they can then upload and download files as they wish (though some e-mail services offer quite a large amount of storage which can make a good alternative). Most web hosting providers will give the user unlimited storage meaning that there’s literally no limit to how much data they can store and retrieve online. At the same time however the transfer will be far slower with large files making it a fairly poor choice for video files and programmes etc. Online storage also needs updating once a year or once a month, and will leave the user unable to access their data where there is no internet connection.

Memory Pens – Memory pens such as SanDisk compact flash memory pens offer up to 256gb of storage in a portable and durable casing. This enables them to fit in pockets and on keyrings meaning you can keep a copy of your data with you at all times. While almost all computers can use memory pens (they simply plug in and play using the USB ports), unlike memory cards they cannot be used with smaller devices such as cameras.  Look for SanDisk compact flash.

External Hard Drives – External hard drives offer the most space for storage and are the most secure making them perhaps the best option for straight forwards back up. However they are also more expensive and more difficult to transport making them not great as a method for transporting data.

Don’t forget to consider Memory cards as a viable and portable storage option. Sd memory cards are already used by many cameras.

One of the easiest ways of backing up files and documents, online backup is becoming more and more popular with each passing day. There are many ways in which you might lose important files and documents, if you do not have a backup in place. There are many different ways in which files might be lost and some of these are often beyond our control. Data loss could be due to mechanical failure, human error, software failure, viruses, thefts, and natural disasters. Given this backdrop, taking an online backup is the most logical next step.

Some individuals might make a case for storing data on magnetic or optical media. But these have as much chance of getting corrupted or stolen as the computers in which the original copies are placed. The next best alternative is to send data over the Internet to another computer which acts as a remote backup to the data being saved. When something happens to the original file, one can connect to that remote computer and restore the same. With remote backup, one can disaster proof one’s businesses. And the best part is that the business users can store their download their critical, high value information from anywhere in the world. Online backup is turning to be the ideal solution for people who work while travelling from location to the next.

There are two different kinds of online backup which are currently available. In the first case, you can download software and install the same in your personal computers. You can then connect to the server of the online backup provider and select and transfer files that you want to backup. When you want to restore some of the files, you can simply connect and restore the desired files back to your computer.

The second option is to use a backup service which is web based. There is a browser window and clients can access all their stored files from any computer having an Internet connection. The web based online backups are more user friendly; on the flip side they cannot back up quite as many files as the first option.

There are also several advantages of using online backup. One does not need to buy of maintain any hardware or consumable media. Most of the time, the online data backups are completely automatic, and business owners can shift focus to their core competencies. Many of the online data back programs offer features such as remote data access not available in media based backups. Also, the files are encrypted before they are sent and this ensures a high level of security.

Most of us usually make the mistake of looking at the monthly costs that are involved whilst comparing the cost of our backup solutions. Many a times, we fail to take into consideration the hidden costs of tape backup that tend to accumulate over the years. In addition, there are also hardware costs, the costs of labour, and the storage costs that often go unnoticed. Also, even after taking all the precautions, the success rate of restoring data is usually 50%. It is because of all these factors that using online backup services for proper storage of valuable data has become extremely crucial.

You would find a number of reliable and reputed providers of secure online backup services who are striving hard to make their presence felt worldwide. As a consequence of the high number of players in this sector, the costs of these services have also reduced significantly over the past few years. Often these online backup storage services are delivered as subscription services, where the backups are carried out automatically without any need of intervention by the users at any  stage. With the help of off site storage of data, the storage management costs are brought down to a significant extent.

A variety of businesses from different sectors are making use of secure online backup services for managing their valuable data. The cost-effectiveness and security of backup data online where your data is first encrypted before it is sent and stored at secure data centres have increased the popularity of this service. It is being sought after by business owners from different fields, such as accounting, architecture, consulting, dentistry, retail, manufacturing, and more.

There are multiple advantages of using secure online backup service. First of all, with the help of a reliable and automatic online backup storage service, companies could free up their management and resources from data backup and start focusing on their core competencies. In addition, it is a widely accepted fact that online backup is more reliable and secure than tape backup. In secure online backup service, disk-to-disk data transfer technology is used and therefore, data recovery is normally 99% certain. A large number of reputed providers of secure online backup services also usually backup data to two sites for fail-over guarantee. This ensures one data centre operates as stand by even if the other has failed by any chance.

Cool, arent they?

Most of the free online storage websites I have seen (4shared, mediafire, etc…) delete your files if you don’t log in every 30 days. Or your file is not downloaded every 30 days. Are there any free online storage sites with direct linking that don’t do this?

Nowadays, the concept of online backup became common and many people started using it due to the many advantages it offers like automatic backup, no need to buy flash or external drives, data is accessible from anywhere, and many other features.
Online backup solutions are not all alike.  In general, all online backup solutions backup the data online allowing users to restore it when needed using some mechanism. However, some solutions offer advanced features set that makes the user’s job a lot easier when it gets to restoring or finding lost data. Here is a list of some main features a buyer should look for:

Continuous Backup vs. Manual Upload
Many solutions offer continuous backup by replicating folders/file additions, changes, and deletion to the online backup site in a continuous fashion seamlessly. In this case, a user does not have to worry about remembering to backup files; it is done behind the scene seamlessly. Some solutions allow user to control the frequency and time of data backup like setting a schedule or update period length.
Other solutions do not backup data continuously; instead they offer the user the storage space and leave it up to the user to upload his data files each time he needs. This requires the user to upload his data files/folders manually each time he wants the new copy online. This makes it inconvenient to the user as he has to do this manually each time there is a change in the data.

Files/Folder versioning or archiving
Some solutions offer the so called file versioning (also known as archiving) where the system keeps the old files versions that have been overwritten or deleted and timestamp them for future archive in case user needs to get them. This allows users to access an old file version that has been deleted or overwritten which can save a lot of user time in case he accidently deleted or overwrote a critical file or data.

Data Privacy Options
Generally Speaking, most online backup solutions perform data encryption on data while it is getting backed up (or uploaded) to the online backup store. This is called session encryption. Solutions use a variety of encryption options for backup session such as SSL, AES and Blowfish. This protects the privacy for data while being transmitted from user’s PC to online backup store.
On the other hand, some solutions offer additional layer of protection to data privacy by giving the user the choice to store files encrypted using user’s own selected password. This means no one can open the file but the user since he will be the only one to know the password.

Compression Support
Some solutions offer data compression before or after the backup process. Compressing backed up data can achieve two main good things for us: Makes backup consume less space, and performs backup quicker. Depending on user files types (documents, images, databases, etc), compression might not be helpful if user decides to backup files that are already in a sort of compressed format like (JPG images, some EXE files).
